The Tie Works History

The Tie works started in 1999 by Graeme Benjamin and Dov Potaznik. Before the company was started Graeme and Dov did a number of years of research by travelling overseas and going to a number of trade fairs. From this learning process they decided to start a tie company. The process started slowly with buying ties from Italy and the USA.

Graeme comes from a retail/agency background while Dov comes from retail /licensing background. It was decided at the time that Dov would look after distribution and Graeme would oversee design and sales. This has provided a good blend using each of their experiences.

For the first few years the business had a small customer base and mostly supplied Victoria only. Dov and Graeme decided to go away from the Italian market and start doing their own production out of China. After finding the right Manufacturer they started to give their own direction to that supplier. Their aim which is as important today as then was to give fashion, service and most importantly good value. They also made the decision to show new ties every month of the year.

They then went about the task of finding what they believed would be the best agents in each State. They are proud to say that they believe they have the most respected agents in each of the areas they represent.

From that time on the business grew dramatically and they added cufflinks to the range and now have the biggest selection in Australia which is kept as stock service. Also added have been socks, belts, shirts, braces, hats. More recently they have added formal vest and accessories, Licensed T/shirts and Travel bags. The company has now become the premier accessory company in Australia.

The company has shown amazing growth since the early days and it is still the desire to keep growing whilst always remembering that their customers are their most important asset.

It is hoped you enjoy the company’s new web site and it helps you to see the entire range of products that are stock service in comfort.
